Waist-to-Body-Fat Chart for Men

90 combinations · neck fixed at 15" · US Navy method

Height down the side, waist across the top, and the Navy tape estimate in every cell. This is the fastest way to see whether a given waist is lean for one frame and unremarkable for another — the same 34-inch waist reads very differently at 5'6" and 6'4".

Cells are body-fat percentages; colour follows the ACE category. Click any cell for the full derivation.

Using the chart

How is the chart calculated?

Each cell is the US Navy circumference equation for men, with the neck held at 15 inches and the waist read from the column header. Height comes from the row. No weight or age inputs are used — the method is deliberately independent of the scale.

Why are the colour bands different?

Every value is shaded by its ACE category: essential, athletes, fitness, acceptable or obesity. Reading diagonally across the grid shows how much waist a taller frame can carry before the band changes.

What if my neck is not 15 inches?

Open the detail page for your height and waist — each one carries a neck-sensitivity line. A larger neck lowers the estimate by roughly one point per inch at typical proportions.
